Your story is inspirational.  It sounds as if you are lucky enough to have people that surround you with love and that have supported you throughout your recovery.  You may want to check out this website  www.journey-forward.org.  This is an organization in Canton that works with people that have had spinal cord injuries in getting them to achieve their goals.  The people that work here are fabulous and the founder sustained a cervical injury 10 years ago.  He was told he would never walk again and he has worked hard to get back to walking and being completely independent.

Good Luck and God Bless!

I saw the piece about you on the Patriots website.  I live in Erie PA but was brought up in Lawrence Ma many yerars ago.  I too had a back injury (l2-L3) and and was hospitalized for 9 monthe straight, at New England Deaconess Hospital  They said that I might not be able to walk but after countless surgeries and a lot of rehad I am "fully functional" today .  Don't ever doubt yourself and keep focus on each goal you set for yourself.

God bless you and your family

Ellen Rogers

Dear Jared and family -

I would like to introduce myself and my son, Ned Sullivan and we're from Concord, MA.  Ned, too, had a terrible spinal cord injury several years ago and we went to Shepherd as well.  It is an incredible place.  I had to laugh when I read on your site about the Halloween party!  I remember it well as Ned threw a pie in Lauren, his therapist face!

Ned has come a long way since then.  A wonderful organization donated a service monkey to him, Kasey and she has been incrediblel.

I would love to talk to your mom and offer any ideas and thoughts that maybe could be helpful along the way -

Please have her contact me at ellenrogers1@comcast.net - we'd love to help.

Hey Jared,

I haven't been home much but got an update from my family that you came home a little while ago and it was good to hear the news.  I can't say I completely know how you feel as my neck injury wasn't nearly as severe as yours but I know it was a tough experience for me so I can only imagine how big of a burden it is for you.  Although if there's one thing I do it's that knowing from coaching you and your brothers in the past its that your personality an competitive drive will certainly help you through this.  Good luck, stay strong and get well soon.

Miss Tremblay

Jared--I've been checking this site frequently and am so pleased to read about your continued progress.  I'm not at all surprised to read that you're smiling and laughing all the time, as that was what you did most of the time in my math class.  Although I know I sometimes got cross with you, you certainly made class more entertaining and I enjoyed seeing your smile each day.

Have a safe trip home tomorrow and have a wonderful Christmas.  Here's truly wishing you all the best in 2010!

Danny Farnham

Jared,

Everyday North Reading as a whole is thinking about your progress, and collectively, we can't help but admire your inner strength for maintaining hope and a positive attitude through this all. No matter what happens, you've got to be the toughest, most resillient men I know. Life throws all these bullshit cards at us sometimes, and even though it sucks, it's what really makes strong people like you shine. All the years I've known you, nothing has been able to keep you down. This won't keep you down either, I know it. Stay relentless.

Much respect, admiration and compassion,

Danny Farnham
